This is a fun, light read for a mature reader. As the story progresses Jae makes some friends, gets bullied, does some awesome dragon flying, and is a hero. One of the dragonriders takes an interest in Jae and this is only intensified when Jae finds himself bonding with a wild dragon and becoming a student himself at the academy. His father has no real love for Jae, it seems as if he’s just resigned to that fact he must do something with this kid. He decides to take Jae with him to the dragonrider’s academy to work as an apprentice. His father is a tack master of some repute for the dragon riders. He is looked down on because he is a halfbreed and isn’t accepted by either elves or humans. She lives at home with her husband, two cats, and dog.Fledgling is a YA Fantasy about a half elf named Jae. She also loves watching children’s movies and collecting books. Nicole enjoys hiking, camping, shopping, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She has previously worked as a freelance and graphic artist for promotional companies, but has now embraced writing as a full-time occupation. in English with a concentration in Classics from Auburn University, and will soon attend graduate school. Originally from a small town in North Alabama, Nicole moves frequently due to her husband’s career as a pilot for the United States Air Force.
